QOS Girls U9 & U11 News

Queens under 9 Girls (pictured) took part in their first Fun Fours game, against Terregles Boys at Queens Arena on Sunday. The girls have been working hard on fitness and composure on the ball as they prepare for the start of the Fun Fours season next month. The squad is growing in size, but we still have space for a few more players. If any girls would like to join us, please come along to training, currently from 4.30pm to 6pm on Fridays at The Dumfries High School 3G pitch.

Meanwhile, the under 11 side had an early start on Saturday, as they made the trip to Grangemouth for the Inchyra Cup competition. Much excitement and urgency to get started was rewarded with a fantastic victory in the first game. The win gave the girls a great boost in confidence and set the bar high for the games that were to come. The team worked hard throughout and made improvements and changes in tactics as the tournament progressed. A determined effort by all resulted in a very worthy second place overall in the tournament, in the girls’ first competitive outing as the U11s. The victory was even more praiseworthy as the team is still looking for a goalie, and outfield players had to take it in turns. All the players did their team proud, and they were a credit to the club.
