Partick Thistle Match Preview

It's back to league business this weekend as we head to Partick Thistle in the Championship.  It's the first of three games for us in the space of a week so a tough week ahead but with the form we are in at the moment you can never have too many games.

We were edged out by the odd goal in five on our last visit to Firhill when all five goals were scored in a thrilling first half in September.  Then Stephen Dobbie scored the only goal of the game to give us a one - nil win over the Jags at the beginning of December.

Queens boss Gary Naysmith is looking to continue our great start to 2019.

"We take far more positives than negatives from our game at Dundee in the Scottish Cup last weekend.  The players were excellent from start to finish and we are disappointed that we didn't get through at the first time of asking.  But we have a replay under the floodlights at Palmerston to look forward to on Tuesday and we can go into that game knowing if we can win it we will face either Aberdeen or Stenhousemuir in front of the TV cameras.

But that is parked to one side for now as we have a very important game at Partick first.  Although they sit bottom of the league, I still have a feeling that they will turn things around and come good so we can't be fooled by the league positions.  Like I've said previously, once you start taking your eye off the ball that's when you start to slip up, so for the past few days and until Saturday we will continue to be fully focused on the game at Firhill.  And we will give them every respect.

Confidence is overflowing within the squad at the moment and the players are happy and enjoying their football, that makes things easier and it is helping us.  They believe in their ability and it's getting results.  When you're winning, the boys can't wait for games and that's what's happening for us just now.

We are going into this game on the back of two excellent league wins over teams who were above us.  In this league its difficult to put a run together but with back to back wins its a foundation for us to build on.  We will continue to take one game at a time and won't look too far ahead.

We are still looking to add to the squad before the window closes next week but there is nothing to report at the moment.  Darren Brownlie started his come back in a friendly at Annan on Tuesday, he's not ready to make a return to the first team squad just yet but it's pleasing to get some minutes under his belt.  Callum Fordyce missed last week after going over on his ankle in training and won't be fit for Saturday either".
