U18s Go Out To Dundee United

The u18s lost 5-0 to Dundee United in horrible cold and wet conditions at Palmerston in tonight's Scottish FA Youth Cup tie.

Whilt United deserved their win, the margin was harsh on the Queens side. Playing against a strong wind we were only one down at half time and Adam Gordon was unlucky to hit the bar with a header which would have equalised.

The second half initially saw Queens, with the wind now at their backs, dominate possession. A wonderful curling strike from Ross Irving came back off the inside of the post and bounced clear across the face of goal. However it was United who put the game to bed with two quick goals against the run of play midway through the half. First a near post header at a corner left Ruaridh Wallace with no chance and two minutes later another sharp headerfrom about 12 yards put the redult beyond doubt.

In the final five minutes United added two more, the first an outstanding direct free kick and the second another header. The boys never gave up but couldnt get the goal they deserved as a consolation. They certainly didnt deserve to lose by five but it is the young Terrors who advance to the next round. We wish them well.
