Livingston Match Preview

With Dumbarton and Inverness CT contesting the Irn Bru Cup Final, our game at home to Livingston is one of only three Championship games taking place this weekend.

The visitors who were promoted at the end of last season, currently sit second in the table.  The three games between us this season have resulted in one win apiece and a draw.  We drew two all away in September, with Andy Stirling and Derek Lyle getting our goals.  Livingston claimed the points in their last visit to Dumfries with a three - nil victory, but Chris Kane scored the only goal of the game in January at the Toni Macaroni to secure three points for us.

We head into the game on the back of a massive result against Dundee United.  Manager Gary Naysmith reflects on that game and looks ahead to the game against Livingston.

"The boys were absolutely terrific at Tannadice on Tuesday evening. I felt United started the game better than ourselves but after the first 20 minutes I felt we were the better team and deserved to win as we carried an attacking threat the whole night.

We had played well in spells against St Mirren and Dundee Utd in our previous two games but lack of concentration at crucial times cost us goals in each game and ultimately led to us losing both matches. I felt confident that if we improved on that aspect of our game that we could get a result at Tannadice and I am delighted that the boys proved me right.

At the beginning of the week, we added Josh Todd to the squad. He made his debut on Tuesday evening and for someone who has missed a massive part of the season with a shoulder injury, I thought his performance was excellent and a testament to his fitness that he lasted the 90 minutes. Having Josh allows me to use other players elsewhere and gives us more attacking options which will be important for the run in.

We also managed to get Danny Carmichael on for 25 minutes on Tuesday evening and it's good to get him back. He can be a key player for us between now and the end of the season and hopefully he can remain injury free for the remaining games.

We have had a tough schedule recently. This will be the lads fifth game in 14 days, and our fourth in 10 days against the top three teams in the division, but we pride ourselves on our fitness so I am sure we will be ready to compete physically against a Livingston side who I think are also an extremely fit team.

The two David's deserve an enormous amount of credit for what they have achieved so far this season. They are a very difficult side to play against, a well organised side who score goals, don't concede many and don't lose many games. For them to be sitting second in the championship shows that they have done a fantastic job since being promoted last season.

However, there hasn't been much between the teams so far this season and we will be looking to build on the United result and get three points which would leave us right in the mix for a play off spot with six games remaining.

We hope to have Stephen Dobbie back in the squad this weekend, but Alan Martin and Owen Bell are still out as is Darren Brownlie who is suspended".

Visiting fans should note they will be located in the Rosefield Salvage Stand section six and seven and that they should enter via turnstile 3. The catering outlet in the Rosefield home end will be available for use of Livingston supporters. Catering is also available in the Arena café where a full menu is available before kick-off.

Entry is by ticket only. The home ticket office will be open for use of both home and away supporters and is situated adjacent to Rosefield Stand turnstile numbers 1 and 2. In addition, supporters who choose to park in the Arena car park have access to a ticket office at that location.

Ticket prices are: Adult £16, OAP's £9, U-16's £5, Adult accessible £8, Concession accessible £5, U16 accessible £3.

Wheelchair access for away supporters is on the south side of Rosefield stand. There is a layby on King Street for vehicles to drop their passengers for flat access to the ground. Disabled parking is available on the north side of the Rosefield Stand. The cost of entry of one personal assistant is included in the price of the accessible ticket.

There will be on-street parking restrictions, therefore it is suggested that buses/minibuses drop off their passengers in Terregles St/King Street and thereafter park on College Mains road just off the roundabout with the A76 on the town bypass (adjacent to Curry's/PC World, as the other side at Aldi is the access road to the ambulance depot and is extremely busy). Pick up should be the same location.

There are no known roadworks in the area that will cause any delays.

QOS have adopted a robust search policy for spectators entering the ground to ensure that ground rules and regulations are strictly adhered to. Palmerston Park is a non-smoking venue. This includes e cigarettes and other such devices. Stewards are empowered to eject spectators who disobey these rules. All spectators are requested to abide by our unacceptable behaviour policy.

The match which is sponsored by Oakbank kicks off at 3pm.

Other sponsors for the match are Armstrong Waste Management who are our gold ball sponsors while the silver ball is sponsored by the New Bazaar.

SLO Charity of the week for this game is Jackson's Fight.  The charity was formed in 2016 to support local lad Jackson Geddes in attaining the urgent medical treatment he needed.  So far they have raised over £25,000 and have recently made a move to becoming a foundation so they can help other families of children with life shortening conditions.  They can be contacted via the Jackson's Fight Facebook page.  Their next organised event is a Charity Ball on 12th May at Easterbrook Hall with The Voice 2016 winner Kevin Simm as the headline act.
