The Week Ahead

With our usual clubs, school visits and new ventures starting it's going to be a busy week at Palmerston.

The week begins at Lochside with our Breakfast Club on Monday morning before school starts.  Then Walking Football for the over 55's takes place at the Arena from 10am, it's £3 per person to take part.  In the afternoon, the Community Team have no less than four school visits.  They'll be at Shawhead between, one and two before visiting St Ninians for an hour, starting at two and then between three and four, they'll be at Closeburn and Lockerbie.

Events continue on Monday evening, with Speedy Byers goal-keeping sessions at Palmerston.

On Tuesday, the day again starts with Breakfast Club and school visit to Lochside, as well as the school programme taking place at St Ninians.

Tickets for the home support wishing to attend our Scottish Cup tie against Partick Thistle on Saturday, will go on sale at Palmerston.

In the build up to our William Hill Scottish Cup tie against Partick Thistle, three of the first team will be taking part in the SFA, Scottish Cup Keep It Off The Deck Challenge after training (a video will be available later) and the media will be on site to speak to our Assistant Manager, Dougie Anderson and Captain, John Rankin about the game.

Also in the afternoon, Manager Gary Naysmith will be joining the other Championship and Premier League Managers for a meeting in Perth.

And the Community Team will be running their Why Try Programme, before the Youth sides will be attending the first of their two weekly training sessions.

On Wednesday, we will have Breakfast Club in the morning and the usual Wednesday Clubs for pre and primary school children at the Arena in the afternoon.

Breakfast Club continues on Thursday along with school visits at Caerlaverock Primary, St Ninians, Lochside and Heathhall.

Thursday also sees the launch of our Fit Fans In Training at 6pm.   It's FREE to join and gives you the opportunity to get fitter, become healthier, and go behind the scenes at the club.  The programme runs for 12 weeks and will be open to both men or women aged 35-65 years old. You must have a waist size of at least 38 inches and want to lose weight or to have a healthier lifestyle. It's ultimately to help increase knowledge of diet & nutrition, improve lifestyle choices, increase physical activity amongst participants and to reduce weight and waist measurements.

As the programme is aimed at fans of Queen of the South there will also be the chance to have a look behind the scenes, be trained by selected club coaches, have a nosy at the trophy cabinet and have the chance to talk tactics in the dressing room. Who knows, maybe you'll even bump into a player or two.   This will be our third year of running the event so we want to make it a hat-trick of successful programmes.

The Youth sides will also have their second training session of the week.

The last Breakfast Club of the week kick starts Friday's events.  There will be school visit to Lochrutton in the afternoon, and the Girls Club will be running.

In the evening our reserve side have a SCFA Challenge Cup second round tie against Newton Stewart.  The game takes place at Blairmount Park and kicks off at half past seven.

As previously posted there there will be NO sale of tickets to Partick Thistle supporters on match day for the Scottish Cup tie. This match is all ticket for away supporters and Partick Thistle FC have all of the away tickets. These are available from Firhill in person, by telephone or online. The Terregles Street Terrace will not be open for this fixture. Partick Thistle supporters have been allocated Sections 5 to 9 of the Rosefield Salvage Stand, which means that on this occasion unfortunately our own supporters who usually sit in Section 5 will not be able to sit in their usual seats.

Tickets for home supporters will go on sale from Tuesday and will be available for purchase on matchday from the usual Arena Ticket Office and Rosefield Home Ticket Office. Season tickets are of course not valid for this game so please buy your ticket through the week next week or make sure to leave yourself enough time to buy pre-match with bigger queues than normal expected.

As previously confirmed, prices for this fixture have been held at the usual League prices of £16 Adults, £9 Concessions (OAP's, Full Time Students & 16-21 year olds) and £5 for Under 16's.

And as you will probably be aware by now the SLO Committee select a Charity of the week for our home games.  For our game against Partick Thistle they have chosen, Visibility.  To find out more about what the Charity is about visit their website https://www.visibility.org.uk/how-we-can-help/overview

And don't forget that you have until the end of the month to pay five pounds and put your name down to be included in a piece of Queens history with our Centenary Shirt Offer.  Founded in 1919, the club will reach it's centenary during the 2018 / 19 campaign.  So with that in mind, at the start of next season, we will be bringing out a historic shirt to celebrate our special birthday.  What makes it unique is that for just £5.00 per name, supporters or friends are being offered the chance to have THEIR name on a bespoke top for next season.

There is no limit on the number of names you can have on the shirt but to ensure it will be ready in time, we only have a short window to gather the information.  So supporters have until the end of January to pay a fiver and submit their names. Orders can be submitted via our website www.qosfc.com using link http://store.qosfc.com/centenary-shirt but people should be careful when creating their request as what is entered on the form will be what is embedded onto the shirt when it's made.

If you prefer to make the request in person, then you can pop into the club shop/office during the week. Or you can speak to one of the SLO Committee, Ross, Iain, Nathan or Simon who will happily take your order.
