Greenock Morton u20's 1 - 1 QoS u20's
Queens were held to a draw at Cappielow last night in their latest Development League West fixture. The first half was tight with both teams having a share of possession. Queens were unfotunate not to take the lead after ten minutes when John Wight had a shot deflected and then tipped on to the bar by the Morton goalkeeper. However, midway through the first half it was Jack Leighfield's turn to make a smart save from the home striker. Half time was reached with no score.
The second half saw a similar balance of play. With 20 minutes left the home keeper made a fine double save to deny Joe Usher an opener but he was left helpless five minutes later when Queens took the lead through a superb 25 yard rocket into the top corner from Jesse Akubuine. With not much time left Morton gambled with extra bodies up front and to great frustration amongst the Queens party they were rewarded in the 90th minute when a deflected strike squirmed into the bottom corner of the net. Never the less this was a very positive performance from a young Queens side at Cappielow, which is never an easy place to get a result. The young side are still unbeaten in their away fixtures this season with 3 wins and 2 draws.
