Falkirk Preview

The first team return to Palmerston this weekend where they take on Falkirk in the Championship.  Queens ran out four - one winners the last time the two sides met at the Falkirk Stadium in August with Jason Kerr scoring early and Stephen Dobbie bagging the match ball with a hat-trick.

Manager Gary Naysmith looks ahead to the game.

"I was delighted to get the win at Brechin City last week. They may be bottom of the table but you would never have thought that if you watched the game, they made sure we had to battle right to the end to get our three points and I can safely predict that it won’t be long before they chalk up their first win of the season.

We haven't had too many of late but our last home game against Dunfermline was a decent one despite ending goal-less. I actually thought we did enough on the day to merit taking all three points, especially in the first half when we controlled the game, but we just couldn’t apply the finishing touch.

I'm looking for the same level of performance from us this weekend when we welcome Falkirk.  We had a great win over them at the Falkirk Stadium in August, we were excellent that day all over the park and deserved the win.  Paul Hartley has taken over the Managers job since then, so we can expect some changes but the players are the same so we know they will make it tough for us.  Things haven’t gone quite the way that Falkirk would have wanted this season but they have picked up in recent weeks and will have been buoyed by a very good point against St Mirren last week as well as  keeping clean sheets in five of their last six games.

It’s so important to pick up points at home in this division. The league table is still very tight and a good run of results can lift any of the teams right into the promotion mix. After this we have three away games in three different competitions, which we are looking forward to, but the bedrock of a solid season is your home form. We've not had too many games at Palmerston so far but our home form has been reasonable so we are looking to end the month of October with a good result.

Jordan Marshall picked up an injury at Brechin and is doubtful for this weekend.  Dan Carmichael, Chris Kane and Andy Stirling have all returned to training but are still a wee bit off.  However we are delighted to have Jason Kerr available after successfully appealing the red card he was shown at Glebe Park".

Kick off is 3pm on Saturday.

Please note our earlier post regarding parking restrictions. Tickets will be available on the day ticket booths at the usual price for league matches.
