Update from the Manager

We were slow off the mark at Cappielow but I felt that we did grow into the game during the first half without punishing Morton.  However, as in so many games in this position, the first goal is crucial and unfortunately Morton got it early in the second half which left us on the back foot a bit and we huffed and puffed and didn’t play well enough to win the game.

We know the players have quality; we can see that every day in training we just need them to show that more on the pitch.  They too were frustrated last week as they like us all want to put a winning run together.

The season has been very stop start so far and last week was another setback but I’m still confident if we can get a few results and build the confidence back up we will climb the table again.  It’s up to us all inpidually and collectively to work as a unit to make it work and get the confidence back.  To do that we need to work hard to strengthen our own case by defending better as a team, start keeping clean-sheets and turning the chances that we’ve been creating into goals - all the basic fundamentals of football.

This weekend we welcome Falkirk to Palmerston - Peter Houston's side are on a great run of form at the moment and haven’t been conceding too many goals, which gives them a platform to build on and the confidence. They sit a few places above us in the league table, but this is an opportunity for us to close the gap.  I don’t believe there is much between the two sides but it’s a matter of our players going out and showing that.

As I mentioned in previous posts our home form has been disappointing this season, but hopefully we can build on the last result at home and turn on a performance and create something special for the fans to shout about - as well as taking the three points.

We have a few people who haven't been involved recently chapping at the bit to get going again so with such a tough game we need to roll our sleeves up and do both sides of the game.

Falkirk's visit probably comes a bit soon for Andy Dowie and we're still missing Calum Tapping and Dale Hilson but we have no fresh concerns.
