Update from the Manager

I said before last weekend’s match that the performance against Dumbarton away was probably one of our best so far this season.  Stephen (Aitken) took that into account and brought his side to Dumfries having tweaked their tactics a bit, so we had to make some adjustments of our own to combat their changes and it took us a wee bit of time to get going.  Robbie (Thomson) was probably busier than we’d have liked him to be but we ground out the three points which is what we have to do to ensure we keep climbing the league table.

There is still plenty of room for improvement as we want to get to the stage where we offer an entertaining performance with free flowing football as well as taking maximum points.  Hopefully the back to back victories in our last two outings will give us the confidence to kick on and be consistent week in, week out as we continue to work towards getting both.

This weekend it’s a groundhog day as we play Morton for the fourth time this season but at least it’s a different venue this time!

Playing each other so often can lead to cancelling each other out and with one win each and a draw so far between the sides it shows that there’s not much between the teams and I’m expecting another close game on Saturday.   The fans can get a bit fed up watching the same teams on a regular basis but we appreciate the support and a good backing helps lift the team.

They’ve had a few injuries themselves recently so I’m not sure if they’ll be back or not, but they carry a big threat and we have to deal with that.  But we’ve studied them this week to work out their strength and weaknesses and have been working on a game plan.

As I mentioned earlier, we’ll take confidence from the recent results and if we can play better and give it our all for 90 minutes we’ll hopefully take the three points.

We have no fresh injury concerns for the trip.  Andy Dowie has started his recovery from his hamstring injury but we’ll still be without him, Calum Tapping and Dale Hilson.
