Update from the Manager

Last weekend’s victory at Alloa was really pleasing, not only was it a valuable three points it showed the players do have the quality to battle and get the results when things go against them.  It’s not an easy place to go so it was a real boost for everyone, as confidence had been low throughout the club.

When we lost the goal after thirty seconds I thought here we go again, but the boys dug in and I thought we played well after that without getting the rewards during the first half.  But getting the goal just 13 seconds after the break and the second within a short space of time put us on the front foot and although we had to battle late on as Alloa came back at us, I think we deserved the much needed three points.

We go into this weekend’s game against Dumbarton looking to build on last weekend’s win – we need to find some consistence and put together a run.  We moved closer to some of the teams above us, the gap is bigger than we’d like it to be so it’s important we don’t slip up or last week’s result goes for nothing.

We have short term and longer term ambitions at the club, we want to develop our younger players and bring them through but it’s about getting the balance right.  We need the older players within the squad to get back to the consistent levels they’ve reached in recent seasons.

Dumbarton away was probably our best performance so far, although they’ve added to their squad since then, we need to go into the game in a positive frame of mind.  Palmerston has been quiet of late so we need to give the fans something to shout about and get them right behind the team I want Palmerston to be a fortress again, a place that teams fear coming to.

On the injury front, we’re still without, Andy Dowie who is still a few weeks away as is Calum Tapping and Dale Hilson is still on crutches after fracturing his foot.

Kyle Jacobs served his one match suspension at Alloa last week so returns to the squad for the visit of Dumbarton.
