Update from the Manager

We are all gutted that we didn’t take anything from our game at Ibrox last weekend.  I was mainly disappointed for the players as they put so much into the match. I was really proud of their efforts in front of big crowd and when Robbie (Thomson) saved the penalty so late in the game, there was a feeling that it might just be our afternoon, but it wasn’t to be.

Due to injuries we had to make several changes and fielded a young side. Of those who started, Jake Pickard, Aidan Smith and Jordan Marshall are all 18 while Scott Hooper is still only 20.  We also had some players playing out of their natural positions; it was a real team effort with them all pulling together.

I thought we were well organised and stood up to the challenge, we had pace in the team that troubled Rangers and the fitness levels were excellent as the players never tired or stopped running. These games give the players an idea of where they are in their own development and I think they’ve proved to us and themselves that they’re on the right path.

Over the last couple of games against Morton and Rangers, I think we’ve shown better application and work rate, so if we can take that into the games coming up, I think we’ve got the quality to go on a run and pick up some wins.

This weekend we face Livingston who sit at the bottom of the table - so we know it’s going to be tough as they’re fighting for their life and wanting to pick up points.  When I look at it, I think they’ve got quality within their squad so we’ll have to give them the respect that they deserve. But we will be going out for the victory as we want to make sure it’s us that take the three points so we keep within touching distance of the teams above us.

Team news for the weekend:-

Dale Hilson made the bench last week and will again be in the squad for the visit of Livingston.  Iain Russell and Lewis Kidd are also back in contention.
However, Calum Tapping, Andy Dowie, Mark Millar  and Darren Brownlie are all still sidelined.
