Holt Hungry for Goals

Kevin Holt was Saturday’s match-winner against Alloa and the defender is hungry for more goals.

Holt’s second half header guided Queens to victory over Barry Smith’s side and the 22-year-old praised James Fowler’s tactical switch as the reason behind his goal.

The left-back also hailed Danny Carmichael, the man who set up the match-winner with a sublime cross.

He said: “We’ve been playing 3-5-2 the last few weeks so myself and Lewis (Kidd) have got a bit more freedom, it’s great.

“It gives me the encouragement to get in to the box more. Playing that formation gives me the license to go forward and naturally I’d like to chip in with a few more goals – our defenders chip in with goals so I’d like to contribute.

“We’re delighted with the win, it was frustrating for long periods of the game and we thought the goal was never going to come.

“We played well in the first half but didn’t create any clear cut chances. They came in to the game in the second half and it started to open up but I’m delighted to get the goal and the three points.

“I thought Dan played brilliantly when he came on – all the subs were good, it just shows how great a squad we’ve got.”

Saturday’s victory maintained Queens’ fourth placed position in the Championship – three clear of nearest rivals Falkirk.

Queens host table-toppers Hearts this Saturday at Palmerston in a 3pm kick-off.
