Fowler happy with Hibs result

Queens continued their great run of form with a hard-fought point against Hibs to the delight of manager James Fowler.

In a very close contest at Easter Road, Hibs created a few more chances than the visitors but nothing clear cut in the 90 minutes.

The Queens boss was thrilled at remaining unbeaten against the Edinburgh giants after seeing an improvement from their opponents that lost out to the Doonhamers at Palmerston in September.

He said: "We didn`t come to defend but with the quality of players Hibs have, I think we restricted them well and I`m happy.

"I`ve seen Hibs a few times since we last played them and I`ve seen an improvement, they`re a more confident side and we knew it was going to be a tough game coming to Easter Road. It’s four points out of six against them from our point of view and we’re happy with that.

“I think the only real chance that sticks out is Heffernan’s and he usually tucks them away so we were maybe a little bit fortunate with that one.

"Overall, we`re really pleased with the squad and the boys gave it their all today."

With the team sitting in third and three points clear of Hibs, Fowler refuses to get carried away and insists the focus is still on play-offs and not the "big three".

He said: "I would still put us alongside the teams like Livingston, Raith Rovers, Falkirk, Dumbarton and teams like that who will be pushing us for fourth spot. I would think, come January, the big three would go and spend some money and get new players in whereas I doubt the rest of us could.

"We`re still looking to finish the best of the rest of that group."

Meanwhile, Hibs boss Alan Stubbs was frustrated as he felt his side lost out on the chance to catch Queens.

He said: "I don`t think we`ve done enough in the final third after having the majority of the ball and it`s as if we were waiting for something to happen - instead of making something happen.

"I think a lot of the teams that come here will be quite content to go away with a point.

"If I was a fan and you had that much of the ball, I would be frustrated."

Queens face Raith next Saturday at 5:30pm at Palmerston Park as they look to make it six games unbeaten.
