McHugh: It's only half time

Bob McHugh heralded his late winner against Falkirk on Tuesday as the best goal he’s ever scored.
The on-loan Motherwell striker scored both goals in Queens 2-1 comeback over Falkirk on Tuesday night but McHugh was quick to remind everyone that the job was only half done.
He said: “It’s only half time but we were desperate to get a wee advantage before going to their place so we’re happy with that.
“It’s probably the best goal I’ve scored, definitely at senior level. You don’t hit them much sweeter, especially with my left foot as well!
“We never really started in the first half and we spoke about it at half time, we were all disappointed because we hadn’t shown what we can produce.
“We came out in the second half and there was a determination – I thought the boys were excellent and we’ve came away with a cracking result.
“We knew the importance of getting a result although, first and foremost, we had to keep ourselves in the tie before the second leg.
“But at home you’re looking to go out and get the win so going down one nil was disappointing but the spirit the boys showed was great.”
McHugh knows that his form can be key to Queens in the play-offs as the forward has now scored three goals in two games.
The 22-year-old will be playing Premiership football with Motherwell next season but he insists the team at Palmerston are good enough to play in the top tier.
He said: “The quality is here for this team to play in the Premiership as there is a good group of boys and a very tight dressing room – which is similar to Motherwell.
“I’ve enjoyed my time here and the manager has made me feel welcome from the minute I walked in.
“It’s the most important part of the season so if I can hit a good bit of form now it’ll do the team well if I can score some goals and you never know how far we can go.
“If I can score a few goals and help the team as well as helping myself, that would be great.
“But they’re going to come out the traps flying on Saturday and the first goal is going to be important.”
Queens face Falkirk on Saturday in a 3pm kick-off at the Falkirk Stadium in the SPFL Premiership play-off second leg.
