Queens Miss Chance To Win

Missed chances came back to bite Queens as they went down to league leaders Dundee by a single Ian Davidson header.

Manager Jim McIntyre said: “It was a game of very few chances between two evenly matched sides and Dundee have come out on top.

“Dundee had the early chance and our `keeper made a great save but I thought after that we had a period of pressure where we threatened their goal a few times but couldn`t get it in.

“I think second half it`s been one moment.  You can`t excuse dropping a runner in the box – it`s a poor goal for us to give away.”

Davidson netted the winner 13 minutes into the second half but it had been Queens who had dominated much of the opening period, testing Letheren in the Dundee goal on a number of occasions.  They could not take any of the chances though and after Davidson`s goal they found it difficult to create anything of note.

McIntyre added: “Dundee have been ruthless and put their chance away.  You`ve got to capitalise when you`ve got that pressure and we never did that and it`s come back to bite us.

“We’re playing very well though– that`s only our fourth defeat in sixteen games so that highlights how well we have done but we`ll not be too critical of the boys.  I thought they gave us absolutely everything tonight and sometimes it`s just not your day.”
