Queens 1-1 draw with Hamilton yesterday may have left fans of both sides disappointed.
However, Doonhamers boss Jim McIntyre insists that the fans were the real winner yesterday.
McIntyre said: “The game was played by two great sides and it was really good match to watch.
“I’m disappointed that we’ve not taken all three points but for the neutral it was a right good game.
“I thought we were the better side for the first half and we created more clear-cut chances than Hamilton.
“We knew they would come in to it in the second half which they did and they worked the goalie a few times but likewise we’ve worked theirs.
“The subs that came on played a real part as well and gave us a lift at the right time and I’m disappointed that we weren’t a little more ruthless, but, I’ve got to give credit to the boys as I thought they were superb.”
The Palmerston gaffer has his doubts about the Accies opening goal but he praised both goalkeepers after they prevented either team winning the Championship clash.
He said: “For me, Hamilton took the lead through a definite foul on Mark Durnan, as I thought he had two hands on round him but the response from the players was magnificent as we kept going.
“The save from Clark is a really good save but the one from Cuthbert where he gets down low and tips that one round the post – I think that’s the save of the match.
Hamilton Boss Alex Neil also shared McIntyre’s opinion as he believed the top four tie was a fantastic match.
He said: “I think it was quite an exciting game and both teams went to win the match.
“The game could have went either way but having scored first we’re a bit disappointed as we were hoping to get the goal and see it out but I think, over the game, a point a piece is probably a fair result.”
Queens remain in the play-off place thanks to this weekend’s point and they travel to seventh-place Alloa next Saturday to see if they can extend the three point gap over Livingston.
