Holt's High Hopes for Dumbarton

Kevin Holt knows Queens need to turn things around against Dumbarton on Saturday – as well as seeing their fortunes change.

The left-back believes the Doonhamers only need one win to propel them up the table after two successive defeats against Dundee and Falkirk, with two penalties making the difference.

Holt said: “There’s nothing you can do about these decisions but we just have to look at picking up the three points and trying to win all our games for the rest of the season.

“I feel like in the Dundee game we could’ve come away with a point and we were playing with ten men in the second half and we were unlucky.

“In the Falkirk game I would say that they played the better football in the first half but a point would’ve been fair with the way the game went.

“We just need that little bit of luck and we can start getting points on the table and pushing up as high as we can.”

Holt turned his attention to this weekend’s clash with fourth place Dumbarton – who replaced Queens in the final play-off spot last week.

He said: “Beating Dumbarton is important to help us get in to fourth and the play-offs and that is the aim for the season - to finish as high as we can and hopefully that means a top four finish.

“There’s a little gap starting to appear between us and third place and we need to start closing that gap down and Saturday is important for that.”

Queens go in to the Dumbarton having failed to score in over three hours of football but Holty has complete faith in the strikers at Palmerston.

He stated: “It doesn’t worry me because our strikers have been great this year and it shows the competition we have when your top goalscorer isn’t guaranteed a game.

“We’ve got great options up front and with Bob coming in too he’s a great addition and once he gets his first goal, he’ll score a few more.“

Queens face Dumbarton at 3pm on Saturday at Palmerston Park.
