Falkirk Match Preview

This Saturday sees Queens face Falkirk again just 14 days after we last met. Both sides were beaten last weekend, Falkirk losing for the second time in a row after going nearly three months unbeaten, so they will be keen to bounce back and gain revenge for their loss at Palmerston. This time it is Falkirk who are the hosts and The Falkirk Stadium is not a ground we`ve traditionally done well at. We have won there a couple of times though, most recently in 2011 when Allan Johnston scored twice and Colin McMenamin grabbed the other in a 3-0 win. Our previous visit this season saw a 2-1 loss courtesy of a double from Rory Loy.

The Queens squad continues to be a little stretched with Jim Atkinson and Stephen McKenna suspended this weekend whilst Ryan McGuffie, who was currently out injured anyway, has now left the club and will shortly be departing for Australia. However, Paul Burns returns to the squad having missed out last week through his own suspension and it`s hoped that goalkeeper Zander Clark may also be able to make his return from injury. Derek Young continues his return towards full fitness and of course both Chris Higgins and Iain Russell returned to the squad against Dundee last week.

Dumbarton`s victory over our hosts last week combined with our loss to Dundee pulled them level with us on points, and with the Sons having a home game against Raith ahead our head to head clash next weekend, it`s important that we get something at Falkirk if we can. A win would move us to within two points of the Bairns in 3rd also, though they have a better goal difference.
