Queens Struggle To Draw With Ten-Man Livingston

Queen of the South came from behind to draw 3-3 with ten-man Livingston at The Energy Assets Arena in their first away fixture of the season.

Queens started the game slowly and fell behind to Danny Denholm`s low finish on 12 minutes before Iain Russell fired in a volley against his old team after 37 minutes.  The Doonhamers were then awarded a debatable penalty 6 minutes later as Donaldson was adjudged to have handled in the area.  Ryan McGuffie stepped up to find the top corner.  Livingston equalised after the break through Callum Fordyce`s header before substitute Neil Hastings saw red for a second bookable offence after 71 minutes.  The home side snatched an unlikely lead through Danny Mullen on 79 minutes before Gavin Reilly rescued a point for Queens with a close finish after 85 minutes.

Queens manager Jim McIntyre, said: “We didn’t play well today.  Credit to Livingston I thought they were better than us but what I`ve got to praise the lads for is to keep going.  They`ve dug a result out today when we`ve not played well.  Credit to them for that, great spirit.

“You shouldn`t have to score four goals to get a point.  You`d like to think we could keep the back door shut but we were just off it today for whatever reason.  We just weren`t quite at the races but as I say great credit to them because they`ve got that togetherness and they`ve went and got a point out of the game.”
