This Saturday Queens play hosts to East Fife in the final home game of the season. This has been known since last summer when the fixtures came out. No-one then, though, could have known what else would be happening on that day!
The day will be one of, if not the, busiest match days in the clubs history, with not one, but two, trophy presentations, the chance of breaking records, a club first and a club last. To top all that, under-12s can see all of this for free, when accompanied by a paying adult.
Trophies - the league title was clinched some weeks ago along with the Ramsdens Cup, but this Saturday will see the official presentation of the league trophy. The Ramsdens Cup trophy will also be presented for us all to relieve that glorious day in Livingston
Records - after a fantastic 4-0 win over Forfar yesterday, the club has equaled Gretnas Second Division record points total, of 88. This means, of course, that just a point on Saturday will see that record broken. An absolutely amazing achievement by the players and coaching staff. On a personal level, Nicky Clarks hat-trick against Forfar put him on 38 goals for the season, in all competitions. He is just 3 short of Jimmy Rutherfords record of 41. This Saturday might be a game too early for Nicky, but you never know ... especially this season!
Firsts - off the field, this season saw the launch of the Doonhamers Deluxe Draw. As well as regular monthly prizes, the grand prize is a car. This Saturday will see the first winner presented with their brand new car. Its not too late to enter either and be in with a chance - click here for further details - with just over 400 entries so far everyone is in with a great chance of winning.
Lasts - the Palmerston turf has seen some amazing scenes over the years so its fitting that the last official action it sees will be one of the best sides to grace it presented with two trophies, before being dug up to make way for a new artificial pitch for next season. You can still order your piece of turf or place a bid for one of the special areas. And dont forget the Fun Day on May 5th where you could be one of the last people to play on the Palmerston turf.
This really is a once in a lifetime, not to be missed, opportunity. If your kids are U12, bring them along for free, but also tell your friends, your family, your workmates, anyone in fact!
Lets get everyone along to give the players the send off they deserve after such an amazing season.
