An early Derek Lyle header was enough to see off East Fife as Queen of the South ran out 1-0 winners at Palmerston to go seven points clear at the top of the Second DIvision.
The home side created numerous chances throughout the match but were unable to add to Derek Lyle`s third minute goal.
Manager Allan Johnston expressed his pleasure at the performance: "It was a great team performance there. I think Gavin Reilly is surprised he didn`t score three or four there. We created lots of chances and we put ourselves under a wee bit of pressure by not getting the second goal.
"Some of our passing was different class. Passing, movement, creating chances - we can`t really ask for much more.
"If we keep creating those chances then somebody is going to take a hiding against us soon."
The manager was also full of praise for the goalscorer Derek Lyle and the striker was pleased with the win: "I was just happy to get a goal. It was important to get a good start and I thought we played well and could have won by more.
"It`s always nervy when there`s only one goal in it. For all the possession and chances we had to be only one goal in it with five or ten minutes to go it`s always going to be nervy but I think we deserved the three points."
