Johnston Hails 'Massive Win' in Derby

Queen of the South remained unbeaten at the top of the Second Division after a 2-0 win over bottom side Stranraer at Stair Park today.

Manager Allan Johnston described it as a "massive win" after goals from Gavin Reilly and Nicky Clark.

"It`s a massive win, especially when you see the other results.  Alloa beat Forfar and it just shows how important every game is.

"Parts of the first half we played really well, especially after we scored but in the second half we started to hit long balls.  There were massive gaps between the midfield and the forwards but that can happen when they bring on their big striker and we start to defend deeper."

Stranraer began the game strongly and won a penalty after just four minutes but Johnston was expecting the hosts to come out firing.

"We knew that was going to be the case, especially after the result last week, and it`s a derby.  There was a decent crowd today and we`re delighted to get the result in front of the fans."
