Nippy and tricky attacking player who joined in a two year deal from Gretna 2008 at the end of the 2009/10 season. The deal had been set up by Gordon Chisholm before he left. Among Carmichael’s goals was a strike in Allan Johnston’s first game in charge. 2012/13 divisional player of the year nominee (won by Nicky Clark), Carmichael signed a contract extension on 26 April 2013.

Snapped up in July 2011 after leaving Peterhead. Nicky is the son of former West Ham, Rangers and Hearts player, Sandy Clark, who now also has QoS service on his CV from his role in the coaching staff. Moved into the striking role to great effect following Allan Johnston’s appointment as manager, Nicky scored the openers in the cup wins against both Hibs and Rangers. November 2012 Player of the month. Clark hit his 1st hat trick of his career in the 4-1 Boxing Day win against Stranraer. He is the 1st QoS player to score 30 goals in a season since Andy Thomson. Scored in Challenge Cup Final win v Partick. His 2nd hat trick was against Forfar. His 41 goals for the season equalled the 81 year old club record of Jimmy Rutherford. He debuted for Queens the week after in a 1-1 draw at Arbroath, again as a trialist before being announced as having signed for Queens. Played well in the game he was specifically signed for including scoring in the shoot out.

Something of a Palmerston trophy magnet, he was previously at Queens for 4 years including the 2002 Division Two Championship and Challenge Cup wins. Lyle scored the second goal in that Challenge Cup Final. Over 100 QoS 1st team appearances in that 1st spell. His involvment in the 2012/13 league and cup double makes the tanned talisman the 1st ever player to play in 4 senior trophy winning teams for Queen of the South.

Mitchell scored nine minutes into his competitive debut in the 5-2 League Cup win against Alloa. He had previously played for Falkirk for four years. Mitchell played in all the big cup games against Hibs, Rangers, Dundee United and Kilmarnock. With an excellent season in the double winning campaign he was announced as signing a 1 year contract extension on 17 April 2013.

Pre Queens he is best known in this country though for his time on loan at Raith Rovers. Returned to Scotland with Queens after another season down South with Notts County. His debut was in the early season Challenge Cup extra time exit at Ayr. His younger brother Gordon Smith is a also a pro footballer (Livingston & Hearts among other clubs).
