Carmichael Hat Trick Sinks Bully Wee

Queens played a closed doors friendly against Clyde at Broadwood tonight and ran out convincing winners by 5-2. It was a strong side that started containing a trialist keeper and two trialist strikers but also Holt, Higgins, Durnan, Mitchell, Burns, McKenna, Orsi and Carmichael. It was the latter who scored the only goal of the first half with a curling effort from just outside the box.

Queens started the second half slowly and the home side nicked an equaliser when a deep free kick was fired back across the face of goal for a tap in. That stirred the side back into action again and particularly that man Carmichael who added two further goals in the next ten minutes, the first a shot from distance and the second when he found himself unmarked and clean through on goal.

Derek Young, Derek Lyle and Iain Russell then replaced the two trialist strikers and Dan Orsi and Burns almost immediately made it 4-1 with a header from Mitchell`s wicked cross. An instant shot on the turn into the top right corner from Russell completed our tally three minutes later. Pat Slattery and Ian McShane then replaced Burns and McKenna before a short Durnan back pass was punished by Clyde`s substitute striker with five minutes to go.

The first public friendly will take place at Galabank, Annan, on Saturday.
