As our former player and noted journalist Des McKeown reminded us on Saturday, it`s now been 29 long years since we last played at Ibrox.
It was in the League Cup in early season! We`d just beaten Albion Rovers 4-0 away and 2-1 at home but were well beaten by Rangers.
In Glasgow our then keeper Alan Davidson defied the rampent `Gers for long periods but they came down to Palmerston with a healthy 4-0 advantage.
Three days later we met at home for the second leg but went down 4-1 to lose out 8-1 on aggregate.
Drew Busby was our manager then but our young striker Rowan Alexander had just been transferred to St Mirren for a £25,000 fee.
Billy McLaren had the chance to coach the Rangers` Under-16 squad at that time but turned it down to stay at Palmerston.
It was actually way back in 1948 when we last beat the Ibrox side.
It was 3-2 on 28th of February--a date to remember! And our marksmen that day were Hamilton, Stephen and Houliston.
But that`s all history now and we must move on!
However, our most high profile battle with Rangers will be long remembered and was of course that famous Scottish Cup Final in 2008.
As we all know we were 2-0 down at half-time with Boyd and Beasley netting.
However, in the second half it was all so different!
Stevie Tosh bundled the ball home from close range in the 50th minute and just three minutes later big Jim Thomson outjumped the Ibrox defence to head home a Bob Harris free-kick and leave the `Gers fans in a state of disbelief.
Both teams had chances to go ahead but it was that man Boyd again who headed home what proved to be the winner on the 72 minute mark.
Nevertheless it was a sporting contest throughout and both sets of fans applauded the players at the final whistle.
The attendance was 48,821 with 15,500 supporting Queens.
PS At this moment in time we hear that Rangers have sold nearly 20,000 tickets and Queens over 1200.

GAVIN GRABS A `BRACE`
We continued our great nine game unbeaten run at Ayr yesterday to stay top of the table.
We won 4-2 with Gavin Reilly grabbing a brace to make it five goals in two games for the youngster.
So, bring on the Rangers!
